Transforming A Well-Loved Space

Making kitchen spaces bright by inviting the outdoors inside.

project overview

The client wanted to increase their kitchen & dining space with as much natural light as possible. We took the original 80’s kitchen/dining room and transformed it into a modern, light and airy, open-plan area with large sliding doors, merging the indoors and outdoors to create a fantastic new family gathering space.

Scope Of Works

Project Description

The original timber kitchen and dining area was 35 years old with a small sliding door and window. The ceiling had original chandelier lights with old-style internal archways and outdated floor tiles.

We started with removing the kitchen, ceiling and existing window and sliding door. We demolished the external brick walls and installed a new steel lintel Ibeam. Next, we installed the new sliding stacker doors to create a large open space and maximize natural light. Internal archways throughout the home were removed and squared to modernize entryways throughout the home. We installed a new plasterboard ceiling with LED downlights throughout.

The kitchen itself was polyurethane, as requested by the client, with stone benchtops and stainless-steel appliances. The layout was redesigned with an island benchtop and breakfast bar, complete with sink. The oven and stove were also relocated from their original positions to be more functional.

Additional full height glass pantry doors with internal lighting and power facilities were installed. For the flooring, we used 600 x 600mm porcelain floor tiles throughout the kitchen and dining area leading to the outdoor veranda to create an expansive indoor-outdoor feel.

We completed the job with fresh paint and concealed the roller blinds and curtains pelmet.

The speed and efficiency of the Adesso Building Renovations team was really impressive.

We're not builders or designers but we had an idea of what we wanted. ABR were able to translate our ideas into reality and deliver a better result than we first imagined.

While it's not cheap to do a renovation of this size, the build quality and final results were well worth it.
