We began this full house renovation with the bathroom and ensuite renovations. The existing fixtures and fittings – the toilet, vanity & shower – were removed. We removed all the wall and floor tiles, followed by the wall and ceiling sheeting.

Next, we demolished the existing internal wall to create a wider window opening. This ran the full width of the room, allowing maximum internal light. The existing plumbing to the shower was capped off and we relocated all the pipework for the new location of the vanity.

Sliding windows were installed and new villa board was added to the walls and plasterboard for the ceiling. Before the tilers were on-site, we applied two coats of waterproofing membrane. They installed the large floor and wall tiles alongside an elegant feature mosaic to complement the large mirror.

The client chose a wall-hung basin and benchtop made from Caeser Stone that ran from wall to wall, as well as a new toilet and basin bowl above the counter, complete with new tapware. The bathroom renovation was finished with fresh paint throughout and PVC plantation shutters.

The original timber kitchen and dining area were 35 years old and had a small sliding door and window leading to the backyard. The ceiling had original chandelier lights with old-style internal archways and outdated floor tiles.

To begin, we removed the kitchen, ceiling, existing window, and sliding door. We demolished the external brick walls and installed a new steel lintel Ibeam. Next, we installed the new sliding stacker doors to create a large open space and maximize natural light. The original internal archways in the home were removed and squared to modernise the entryways throughout. A new plasterboard ceiling and LED downlights were installed.

The kitchen itself was polyurethane with stone benchtops and stainless-steel appliances. The layout was redesigned with an island benchtop and breakfast bar, complete with a sink. The oven and stove were relocated from their original positions to be in a more functionally accessible spot.

Additional full-height glass pantry doors with internal lighting and power facilities were installed. For the flooring, we used 600 x 600mm porcelain floor tiles throughout the kitchen and dining area, leading to the outdoor verandah. This created an expansive indoor-outdoor feel. The job was completed with fresh paint, roller blinds and curtains concealed under a pelmet.

The backyard renovation started by excavating the turf and pouring an 8m x 6m concrete slab. We installed an insulated pergola, fitted with downlights and electric remote-control blinds and finally 600 x 600mm porcelain floor tiles.

The border coping tiles in the pool needed to be replaced and we removed the original, rusted fence and replaced it with 12mm-thick, frameless glass, creating a more expansive feel for the whole backyard.

Finally, we cement-rendered the existing brick fence and installed a hardwood Balinese hut with Merbau timber decking. Our Balinese-inspired pool area, complemented by a new undercover dining & entertaining space, delivered exactly what our clients asked for; their very own resort-style haven.
